Tia M. Zavaras

Tia cares deeply about getting the best and most sustainable outcomes for her clients and their children.  As a successful construction defect litigator, Tia realized her passion was righting the wrongs suffered by her clients when their homes were literally falling apart.

She brings the same dedication to helping clients whose homes are falling apart in a different way.  She helps families navigate the perils of family law litigation through seasoned advocacy, artful negotiation, and creative problem-solving.

"Tia is absolutely dedicated to helping you walk through fire and come out a phoenix."
- Morgan Whaley
“Tia’s ability to see through the emotions and understand the desired end results for my children was paramount”
- Karli Sharrow
"Our whole family has greatly benefited from Tia's caring experienced approach."
- Lindsay Thompson

During law school, in the DU law clinic, Tia represented the most vulnerable population of low income homeowners for civil predatory lending claims. After that, she was hooked on righting the wrongs of those whose voice could not always be heard.

Out of law school, she represented class action litigants in multi-district litigation for medical negligence. She represented automobile accident victims and dabbled in some light criminal defense before joining a well-respected construction defect litigation firm.

Mid-career

For nearly a decade, Tia was trial counsel for commercial and residential owners in large-scale, high-stake construction defect cases in Colorado and later, in Texas.  During that time, Tia developed a talent for pragmatic case evaluation and articulating the true financial and emotional depth of her client’s complicated damages, which often resulted in multi-million dollar resolutions that never required a lawsuit to be filed.

As a seasoned civil litigator, Tia understands  the importance of a strategic litigation plan and is an authentic advocate and adversary. Tia is known among her peers for her strong credibility, respect, and collegiality and her collaborative skills often result in outcomes that mitigated the financial and emotional impact that can come with litigation.

Family Law

In 2017, Tia’s practice shifted  to the most personal and impactful type of representation possible- the representation and advocacy of parents, business-owners, stay-at-home spouses, victims of domestic violence, fathers seeking paternity rights. Tia strongly believes in the importance of educating soon-to-be divorced parents on the importance of properly shielding their children from the divorce.

Tia’s practice now focuses solely on resolving conflicts that are inherent in the dissolution of marriages and parental relationships.

Tia’s goal is to keep her client and the other parties out of litigation through authentic, real-world solutions to complicated problems.

  1. #Having seen the benefits of resolving high-stakes conflicts without court intervention, Tia focuses her practice on alternative paths for divorces and focuses her practice on collaborative divorces.
  1. #Tia’s focus: collaborative divorces involving complicated assets and parenting issues. Issues involving children where clients can benefit from pragmatic and direct advocacy. She works very hard to reduce conflict in the divorce process and her representation is centered on educating clients on how to co-parent in your children’s best interest.

Tia’s experience and problem-solving skills along with her second nature advocacy have brought true resolution to families who needed realistic solutions for the emotionally and financially traumatizing reality that is divorce.

Tia has authored articles focusing on mental health in relationships and the importance of protecting children from being exposed to most of the details of their parent’s conflict.

Tia’s free time is usually spent with her husband and three sons, cooking, gardening, and meditating.
